HICH VISIBILITY AC CLIPS

High Visibility Clips including secondary colours with colour blind markings. Sets of primary colours and secondary colours

For these, modified proprietary stainless steel clips are used with the tabs firmly bonded to them. They offer a closer similarity to traditional metal clips but without the maintenance problems of paint loss and corrosion. They have rubber like inserts to the jaws to give good grip whilst avoiding damage to the paintwork on the hoop. These clips measure 75x30x35mm when unclipped. Their size allows four clips to be positioned across the width of the top of a standard hoop with a further four clips clipped on to the first row of clips, as per normal. They can clip on top of each other and they will clip to clothing. They will fit hoops with wire diameters of up to 20mm and Quadway hoops.

They can have club initials added to them by special request.

FEELER GAUGES

Feeler gauges for hoop setting. Each with two 1/16″ blades and two 1/32″ blades as standard. These combine to give a range from 1/32″ to 3/16″ in 1/32″ intervals. The tolerance on the thicknesses is less than one thousandth of an inch. A fifth(pink), 1/64″ blade can be added by special request. Club names can be added by special request.

ADJUSTABLE TOURNAMENT HOOP SETTING GAUGE

Image showing gauge positioned between hoop uprights.
The gauge positioned between the hoop uprights showing a gap of slightly less than 3/32″ over the ball diameter for which the gauge was set.

Press fit cube made up from four flat sections. Used under the gauge to position the gauge at mid ball height.

Image of hoop gauge with mock ball
An earlier version of the gauge without spirit level or vernier but with a mock ball to show where the ball is positioned when adjusting the width of the hoop gauge.

The adjustable gauge with inbuilt spirit level. The optional orange cube is a spacer which can be placed on the ground between the hoop legs so that when the gauge is rested on it, the gauge is at mid ball height.

To use the gauge, slacken the thumb wheel called ‘Lock’ and using the other thumb wheel adjust the width of the gauge until it is a close fit to the largest diameter of the largest ball for that lawn. Tighten the ‘Lock’.

Place the orange cube on the ground between the hoop legs and offer the tapered section of the gauge into the gap until it just contacts both sides. Use the spirit level to check that the gauge is horizontal. Then using the graduations on each side it is possible to read off the gap is between ball diameter and the hoop. For example it may be between 1/16″ and 3/32″ indicating that the hoop needs to be tightened if 1/16″ is required.

The contact parts of the gauge have 3mm x 3mm section brass inserts to prevent wear. This photo if of an early version of the gauge without the spirit level or vernier

Image of vernier
Close up of vernier showing a ball 0.8mm oversize.

A vernier is included to give an indication of the size of the ball compared to the standard ball size. When the centre lines of the vernier align the gap between the jaws is the standard ball size. In this case the vernier reads 0.8mm oversize which is on the limit of the permitted tolerance of +/- 0.8mm for the ball diameter.

Optional cups are available for gluing to the jaws to to make it easier to hold the ball so that the horizontal diameter is in the depth of the  gauge jaws. There are plastic pins to ensure correct alignment when gluing. Glue provided.
